Pain in 3D November 20, 2006

A Brunel University team has developed a method to help wheelchair users to be able to use a 3D computer program to explain how severe their symptoms are. So from home, they can register how the person’s pain changed during the day, particularly after medication was taken.

It means that from now, the doctors can build up information on how pain changes and the types of pain a patient has.

Patients use a standard PDA and the program can be easily uploaded by doctors at any point. This method should be extended to other symptoms, so doctors could see the patient’s state at any time. Future medicine…
