There are always some kinds of records that you just can’t believe. These cases are outside the borders of rational thinking. The youngest mother was a 5 year old Peruvian girl. I thought it’s just an other urban legend, but the images and the sources persuaded me. A five year old girl is not matured enough to give birth to a child. The absence of puberty, menstrual cycle, proper development of the uterus makes it impossible, but:
Her name was Lina Medina, a Peruvian girl from the Andean village of Ticrapo… Lina’s parents initially thought their daughter had a large abdominal tumor… but Lina was eventually transferred to a hospital in Lima, where she delivered a six-pound baby boy by Cesarean section on 14 May 1939. Lina’s father was temporarily jailed on suspicion of incest, but he was released for a lack of evidence and authorities were never ableto determine who fathered Lina’s child.
By the way, the answers are here: her doctors were stunned as she had been having regular periods since the age of three. According to her doctor, Escomel, she had an extraordinary hormonal disorder of the pituitary gland.
Jose Sandoval, an obstetrician who took an interest in Lina Medina’s case and authored a book about her in 2002 said that Lina was a psychologically normal child, that she displayed no other unusual medical symptoms, and that she preferred playing with dolls rather than her own child.

He lived to the age of 40, when he died of a bone marrow disease that was completely unrelated to the early pregnancy or an x-ray that proved she was in fact pregnant. His reported birth weight after being delivered by C-section at full term was 6 lbs and he lived a completely healthy life until the bone disease occurred.Lina herself went on to marry and had a second child a full 33 years later, producing another healthy baby boy.
On another matter, people need to quit assuming that it was the father. Although he is the most probable suspect, he is not the only man that lived in the immediate area of Lina with the capability of having sex with her.
To bfab, she was completely developed in a reproductive sense. She had been having REGULAR periods since she was 3, having started at an astounding 8 months old. She had fully developed breasts, the whole nine yards. Although she was still emotionally and physically still of natural size for a 5 year old, she was reproductively a fully matured woman. This can also affect the fact that she was “molested” since on a completely subconcious, instinctual level, she was available to reproduce and most likely had a physical sex drive of her own.

Stop misusing the phrase “begs the question”. The correct meaning of begging the question is ‘basing a conclusion on an assumption that is as much in need of proof as the conclusion itself.’ for example: ‘Hanging is the most appropriate form of punishment for the heinous crime of having red hair.’

Without a doubt a hoax, impossible with a complete lack of evidence. This is definitely going to turn into an fallacious myth.
This is not a hoax. This same case was presented in our endocrinology course in medical school. As stated above, this girl had a rare type of pituitary tumor that secretes GnRH, a hormone that stimulates the production sex hormones like estrogen and testosterone. These abnormal levels of GnRH cause high levels of sex hormones that cause puberty to arise at a much younger age. This is called precocious puberty. With puberty, comes the ability to get pregnant.

1-Have a body able to conceive AND CARRY A CHILD TO TERM at the age of 5.

I find the story quite interesting. I also agree with 149. Anonymous. The full story states she began puberty at 8 months. It is probable given that fact that she had developed a instictive sex drive. Kids being kids most likely a young neighbor or cousin was the father. To those here that say a 5 year old knows nothing of sexual acts you are simply in denial. I was raised in a farming communtiy, in Ohio during the 1960s. At 5, I had 3 (pre-teen)siblings, numerous cousins and neighbor children always around to explain what Lassie was doing with Rover. Sexual exploration was the natual extention of these common everyday experiences/conversations between my peer group. At 5, we all had a clear understanding of intercourse & masterbation mechanics. I had discovered oral and had several willing female playmates in the 5 to 8 age range. Interestingly of my peer group only one teen pregnacy occurred & that was the result of a tryst at church camp between 17 year olds. Modern culture has a very short memory, 100 years ago in was common for 12 & 13 year old girls to be considered adults, married off to 15-20 year old boys & pregnate with their first child. Before the chorus of “Pervert” or “Pediphile” ring out, let say I in no way condone, endorse or find sexual acts between adults & children acceptable. I am simply relaying my personal experience as a 5 year old.

Medically seaking, I agree with the statement above from Kyle Rove. Somebody asked why, if that is the case, not all 5 year old children that are victims of rape end up conceiving. The answer is simple – she wasn’t just ANY 5 year old. She had a rare disorder of the pituitary gland. Although she was only five, her sexual development was compared to that of a sexually mature woman! It’s definately hard to grasp, but look at Gigantism, Dwarfism, the ‘Elephant Man’ etc. They are all unfortunate ‘miracles’ of the pituitary gland.
All in all, it’s been reported in authentic medical journals, further research into the child’s condition and medical tests were carried out after birth, it is in numerous well-known papers around the world, and has been authenticated to the extent where it was acceptable for the case to be included in the Guiness Book of Records!
Also, fetus in fetu or the parasitic twin scenario has often marked differences to this pregnancy. For example, the ‘host’ and the ‘parasite’ are actually twins, not normally completely anatomically separate, and often the weaker twin dies at the expense of the more dominant during early development. In Lina Medina’s case, her son was not a twin, he was anatomically separate, and survived not only his early development but also the birth itself.

Just for the record, if you want to get technical, she wasn’t “raped” because laws preventing child abuse such as this didn’t come along till much later. Plus, in regions such as these (and even villages throughout the world as far away as Japan), it was commonly acceptable to sleep with a child. Notice, he was arrested on suspicion of incest but not molestation. It’s because in these smaller villages, it was believed to be alright as long as you were not having forced intercourse with the child. If this were to occur, the village Preist/ess or some other local spiritual go between would commonly castrate him and exile him from the village.

If she has defective eggs at that age then it would have stayed so throughout her life. Girls are born with ALL the eggs they will ever have. If any are defective then this will be pernament, age will be not a factor.
I like the reply from Shel about castrating and exiling the prepetrator. That punisihment is too good for anyone that does such a thing. I say castrate him, throw salt water on the area, let him suffer from lack of medical care for a week, then throw him from a 2,000 foot cliff with jagged rocks at the bottom.

A five year old being able to get pregnant is entirely possible. My 5 year old niece has this same problem. She started growing breasts, pubic hair and was basically going through puberty. She is now on hormone regression treatment to stop this and they will keep her on the treatment until she is 10 or 11. So I would have to say that this story is feasible.

And just for the record to aussie, there is nothing wrong with being known as an accident. I myself was an accidental pregnancy but am not ashamed or embarrassed by this. To be an accident is simply to be unplanned, not unwanted. And clearly, Gerardo was wanted despite his accidental conception because he was still kept and taken well care of by the family.

Actually, the odds of deformities coming from a couple that is one parent and one child or full-blooded brother and sister is rare.
The odds of their children developing the same ailments as the parents’ family though, is obviously higher. So, unless the two individuals have deformities themselves that are in the family, the odds of that child (or children) having deformities is actually quite rare.
Look around. All of the people that are here today came from the same group of 1,000 to 5,000 people. Don’t you think they ended up breeding within the family on several occations?
Also, look up the rate of children (females) being raped by their fathers and having children. Lots of times, those are the kids that end up being “brother” or “sister,” though they are not. It’s just a matter of the families not wanting to talk about incest.
There are several families and tribes around the world that have been breeding amongst themselves for years. The only thing that ends up killing them is the diseases that are passed through their genes end up at almost a 100% rate among their children. (Look up the history on the British royalty–the blood disease kept killing them off.)

Regardless of the child having a sex drive or not, it being a law then or not, etc. it was rape. No five year old knows what they are doing sexually. And those of you who think that the father (or whoever did it) wouldn’t have because it was 1939, wake up – child sex is happening all the time, and it’s not new to 2007! Sick people go on trips overseas just for sex with minors – YES INCLUDING children as young or younger than five! Many countries have sex trafficing problems.

First of all, although her body may have had “urges”, she was still only 5 years old. Not old enough to make the type of choices involved with dealing with anything remotley sexual. Second, the female body is born with the eggs it is ever going to have, so if her body went into early puberty she could become pregnant. Some of you people talk about the parents not doing anything etc. Please, remember that these people were poor, and ignorant in a 3rd world country.
