I am 41 years old and have 3 grown children and I would have another now if I could, It just doesn't feel right with all the kids gone from home. Older people will have more love and patience and time to give a child than the younger ones who still think of themselves way too much.

Veritee,

Whether because of youthful arrogance or plain ignorance, your post brays, uh, bespeaks, a lack of psychological, emotional or intellectual substance. In addition to your cavalier "questions," you might want to ponder some others, such as: "what will be the psychological effects on a child whose mother 'chose' not to get an education or a job paying enough to see her child through school?"; or: "is choosing a disenfranchised life for a child an acceptable or loving choice?" Not to mention a few more personal inquiries, such as "how would I feel if, due to illness or not having found a partner, I were unable to have a child by the age of '40-45'"? or: "Did I suck at school and/or work and thus meander into making a child so someone could love me no matter how lazy and aimless I might be"? By way of handy information, most people in the developed world aren't about to die when they are 67, and even children don't love unconditionally forever. Finally, the purpose of having a child is not to make a "beautiful miniature of yourself" so you can make up for all you didn't achieve--but to bring up a worthy, compassionate human being that would do some good in this world. But you wouldn't know.

That woman is the most selfish beast I have heard of in a very long time. I feel bad for her poor daughter. Who will take care of her if the woman becomes too ill? What will be the phychological effects of this situation on the child? It is good to know that there is an age limit for these things though I suggest 40-45 instead. People need to make a choice. Choose a fabulous career or choose a beautiful minature of yourself who will love you unconditionally. Don't put your career so far ahead of your family that you decide to start it right before you DIE.
