What do you think about current work opportunities for OB/GYN Doctors? Is there currently a demand for OB/GYN Doctors? What is the future of OB/GYN Medicine?
Dr. Russel Rapoza, OB/GYN: Like all specialties, demand is higher in underserved (and usually undesirable) areas. If you are good at what you do and you make your patients happy, you can work anywhere that you want to, because there’s always a demand for outstanding professionals anywhere.
Because of our unique relationship to patients, and because pregnancy scares most other medical professionals, OB/GYN may evolve into Women’s Medicine, but it will still require the same training, and women will demand specialists who are expert in their particular medical and surgical needs. Whether the malpractice crisis will worsen before it gets better, that’s anyone’s guess.
