Pre-Rounds with Nick Genes on Medscape March 13, 2007
Posted by Dr. Bertalan Meskó in About me, Grand Rounds.trackback
Dr. Nicholas Genes, the founder and maintainer of Grand rounds and Blogborygmi, asked me some questions before hosting Grand rounds this week and published my answers on Medscape today (Med Student Helping Shape Medicine on the ‘Net). He writes really nice things about me:
From his desktop computer in Hungary, Bertalan Meskó is changing the way medical information is accessed and exchanged around the world. And he’s not even a doctor yet.
This busy, ambitious medical student not only maintains personal blogs in both Hungarian and English, he’s also become an important contributor on Wikipedia, one of the most popular sites on the Internet. I recently corresponded with him about these projects and about his interest in genetics and screening.
I enjoyed this interview so much. What I learnt from Nick is that a good interview (or blogterview) depends only on the good questions, not the answers. Thank you, Nick for this opportunity!

Ever since I’ve found your blog I’ve enjoyed it. So I would assume that those compliments are well deserved.
Hungary right? My girlfriend has Hungarian grandparents and she even speaks it a little. I can’t understand a thing!
Keep up the great work.
I was told by a coworker about the article on Medscape today. I’m currently a senior studying microbiology and molecular genetics, and I work at the Michigan Department of Community Health’s Newborn Screening lab. Oddly enough, my father is from Budapest (I actually traveled over with him just a couple weeks ago).
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to reading more of your blogs.
Oh, Hungarian relationships.
Erica, could you give me an e-mail? I’m very interested in newborn screening systems. I’d like to ask you some questions, if it doesn’t mean a problem.
My previous employer was from Hungary. How come I’ve never seen any of your Hungarian blog post before? The ones that I’m seeing now are in English.
All of my posts are in English on Scienceroll. I maintain a Hungarian medical blog for my Hungarian writings at http://mediq.blog.hu
