After a successful radiology exam (the only one left is pulmonology), I’ve been just surfing on PubMed and this article caught my sight:
Accidental condom inhalation.
Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital, Meerut, India.
A 27-year-old lady presented with persistent cough, sputum and fever for the preceding six months. Inspite of trials with antibiotics and anti-tuberculosis treatment for the preceeding four months, her symptoms did not improve. A subsequent chest radiograph showed non-homogeneous collapse-consolidation of right upper lobe. Videobronchoscopy revealed an inverted bag like structure in right upper lobe bronchus and rigid bronchoscopic removal with biopsy forceps confirmed the presence of a condom. Detailed retrospective history also confirmed accidental inhalation of the condom during fellatio.
Can you imagine this?
That sucks. Really sucks.
How in the world would you not notice that a condom came off in your mouth, didn’t come out, and then not have any idea why you were coughing for six months?

This story is awesome. It’s probably happened before to the woman, so she didn’t really think much of it. Did my tax dollars pay for the extraction of this prophalactic though?
I have heard stories of drug importers filling condoms with cocaine and then swallowing them to get thru customs. Not sure how they retrieve the package.

Yes, but this was in her lung, not her rectum. They would never have found it if the lung hadn’t collapsed. That’s a very serious illness, sometimes the next medical opinion is given by the coroner. For survivors, it certainly warrants mom’s admonition — don’t do that again.
