This October, Ashley McKimm, an editor of Junior Dr asked me to write a report about the medical educational opportunities in Second Life, the virtual world. Now the article is published:

Forget those late nights on the wards grappling with real patients to perfect taking a history for the MRCP - medical training is going virtual. Second Life, the online 3D world, is set to become the world’s largest medical training institution and, as Bertalan Meskó reports, it could change the way we view education entirely.

Thanks for posting this. I have been speculating on the application of this sort of technology to EMRs/PHRs for a while now, and your article gave me a lot more food for thought.
