Vitals, Inc., a Lyndhurst, NJ company, has a mission to provide patients with as much objective data as is available on a doctor. If you plan to make an appointment with a physician you don’t know yet, check up on them on the site. It’s also easy to find a doctor as we can search by ailment or by specialty. But what is even more important, patients and physicians have to log in differently, which makes it possible to create a medical community where medical professionals can build their online reputation.

According to their mission statement:

Vitals was created to give consumers the tools — for the first time — to make intelligent, informed decisions about which doctor to choose. Our web site offers you a variety of ways to help in your choice of the right doctor.

For physicians, it allows you to keep track of what others are saying, gives you the opportunity to let consumers know about your work, and lets you make sure your profile is complete and accurate.

Sometimes people can be very bias and ignorant. Probably some reputations can get harmed because of faulty reviews.

I don’t know.

Looks like just another physician ranking service. Guess this is just another one to add to an already crowded list of physician search sites that include HealtheGrades, Angie’s List, and the WellPoint/Zagat guide to name a few.

Now the question is, who will survive.

Today I was talking to one of the doctors from the same Hospital, where I work. I showed him the website ratemds (similar to vitals). He looked at it and said, “I don’t buy this. I don’t like the idea patients to rate doctors. Who are they? They don’t know anything about medicine. I can rate somebody I work with for 10-15 years, but a patient can’t rate a doctor. Than he continue…, “I prefer to get treatment from an asshole doctor who is very good, than from somebody nice and polite who is just playing a doctor without solid knowledge and experience”.
I don’t know where the truth is, but I believe that medicine is like any other business. Of course, first the doctors has to be smart and knowledgeable, but they also should know how to sell their knowledge and skills.

I recently was referred to Doctor Kelvin White’s office on hwy 314, in Fayetteville GA. The staff was very rude and unwelcoming. I waited in the sitting area for 1 hr before they called me back. When I finally was called back I sat in my room for 1hr and 45 min when Doctor Kelvin White walked with a very dry attitude. I told him I had been exposed to strep and I would like to be tested. the nurse swabed my throut and then Doctor Kelvin White came back in the room. Then he said I have a sinus infection (even though I have never had history of it), and perscribed me two medication. Then when I asked him about my stomach cramps he said I need to talk to my OB/GYN about that, I also asked him if he knew any creams to help with the redness of my scar he then said you need to see you surgen. Then he told me to go to the front desk and come back when needed. Never once told me the result of the test, just in all It was a very horrible experience and very unhelpful! Oh in all i was there from 2pm-5pm

I don’t blame people who have been hurt by doctors. Patients have a right to rate drs that they have been to and warn others about their megalomanic attitudes that they are so gifted and are little gods.
