Webicina in the News August 25, 2008

Yesterday, I presented Webicina, an online service that aims to build a bridge between physicians and e-patients.

Some prominent bloggers, for my great pleasure, wrote about it:
-
Introducing Webicina – “Practicing medicine in the web 2.0 era” (UBC Academic Search) – Also posted on Trusted.MD
- Webicina: La medicina del futuro (Planeta Educativo)
-
Webicina – medicine in the web 2.0 era (The Daily Scan)

Physicians sign up now for webicina! (Digital Pathology Blog)
Those who signed up for the newsletter will receive more details and a link to the FAQ page soon.

Of course, I’m very curious what Webcina is or will be, Berci.
You invite us to sign up for a newsletter. However, at Webcina it says: “If you are a physician who is ready to meet the expectations of e-patients, please sign up!”. So I gather that you have to be a physician to sign up?? (yes, I’m not and I’m jealous)
From your comment on Dean Giustini’s blog I understand that webcina dot com will be (partly) profit-based. I’m sure that it will be worth wile (knowing you and your knowledge of med 2.0), but I wonder why you choose such a format and not a wiki for instance. Or is it because it is rather confidential (the security sign) or you have the only input?
Anyway, I wish you good luck with this new initiative.
Jacqueline
Dear Jacqueline!
Thank you for your input! You raised some important questions.
1) Webicina is primarily for medical professionals and medical students as I work in the field of web 2.0 and medicine. So I believe I can come up with the most useful tips and suggestions in this topic. Anyway, anyone can sign up and request a service. We’re quite open and ready to find individualized solutions.
2) The wiki format is not the best one if you want to provide a personalized service.
Webicina is not a free service as it offers products to facilitate the work of medical professionals.
I’m currently working on a FAQ page where, I hope, I will make things clear.
Best regards,
Berci
Thank you for clarifying these issues, Berci. Now I understand.
Perhaps you could consider to mention that anyone can sign up (but that the service is primarily meant for medical professional/students).
This FAQ page could also be useful.
