FaceTalk: Open your own virtual office! February 26, 2012

My good friend and health 2.0 innovator, Lucien Engelen, has been writing about FaceTalk for some time. FaceTalk would make it easier to consult doctors from home via a webcam. It’s going to launch at HIMSS these days. Stay tuned, it’s going to rock!
For a growing number of patients it has become increasingly challenging to have their doctor or health professional on location due to reduced mobility or lack of time. The solution to this challenge is FaceTalk. With just a few clicks you can open your own virtual doctors office and create your virtual clinic. It’s an ideal solution where both healthcare professionals and the patient wins.

Brilliant idea, wonder how well it will work in reality though? In the UK, we have a program on TV named ‘Embarassing Bodies’ – it had a feature where people at home would phone in and show/describe their problem on webcam and the doctors would try to diagnose. It would work extremely well for some cases but not others.
Mel (not a doctor but tired of not being able to get doc appointments..)
Well, Lucien (the founder of the institute that developed it) will be happy to hear that.
@mel Sounds exactly like one of the reasons we’ve developed this service. very important for us was that we innovated in a way that did no longer needed additional hardware like top-set boxes etc. like a lot of the current solution need. Agreed Mel that it differs and not everybody would like to use this, but IF we could change health(care) for 10% of the population, that would be worth the effort.
do you have a link to that program, wonder what we could learn from it in our use-cases.
@berci tnx for the mention on Scienceroll
