Texting Thumbs: A New Medical Condition?

I still remember when I wrote about Nintendo Wii-itis, an arthritis caused by the Wii controller. And now here is “texting thumb”:

The ubiquitous use of smartphones has given rise to ailments with catchy names like “iPhoneitis,” “BlackBerry Thumb” and “Droid-digits,” otherwise known as tendonitis.

If you are experiencing tingling or numbness in your hands, especially while sleeping, Dr. Shin says don’t ignore your symptoms. These are not normal.

Easy!!! When people experience tingling and numbness during sleep, we have bad sleep and we often wake up and so we can feel what is not normal. In such condition, sleep becomes eratic as numbness or tingling are often accompanied by slight or at times even acute pain. So the sleep breaks and we become aware of those symptoms.
