When I gave a presentation at the Medicine 2.0 Congress in Maastricht last year, I knew I would go to Stanford as well.

I plan to write a whole series about the projects and ideas I saw at Stanford in the last couple of days, but first I share some pictures from the journey. At the Stanford Summit, I was on the Knowledge Revolution panel and talked about my course that helps medical students get closer safely to social media. On the first of the Medicine 2.0 Congress, I gave a Prezi about Webicina.com and how we curate the medical segments of social media through crowdsourcing.

Kevin Clauson took this picture while I was on stage.

The Li Ka Shing Center where the Congress took place.

The first minutes of the Stanford Summit.

Organizers created M&Ms with the speakers' faces on them. Here is mine...

Dr. Jay Parkinson talked about his online practice.

The Medical Simulation Center of Stanford. The model was breathing, blinking, had a pulse, etc.

I attended and spoke at the recent Doctors 2.0 and You conference in Paris organized by the French e-health guru, Denise Silber. I made new contacts, got great opportunities for collaboration on Webicina.com and enjoyed plenty of talks. Here are a few pictures:

I give about 70 presentations a year which means I’m invited to many conferences and medical events, but there is one event on the top of my wish list, FutureMed with the most innovative speakers, most interesting topics at one of the most prestigious venues. I’ll try to make it next year for sure!

How will rapidly developing technologies such as the low cost genomic sequencing, artificial intelligence, telemedicine, robotics, 24/7 body wearable monitors, smart pills, stem cells, synthetic biology, gene therapy, mobile phone Apps and crowd sourced health data affect the future of healthcare and medicine?

In this 5-day immersive program held at Singularity University on the NASA-Ames Research Park in the heart of Silicon Valley, participants through a series of talks, workshops site visits and Demos, will gain an over-the-horizon radar perspective and experience in what is emerging in the lab and clinic today, and where opportunities in medicine are moving through disruptive, convergent and rapidly developing technologies.
